Food poisoning is no good, it ruins your entire system. It makes your consciousness go 9 miles underground, your conscience to fly up in the heaven, leaving a soul-less body finding its way to toilet and bed, panaldol and worse still, in my case, college to sit for Biology assessment.
All this lengthy grievance could be summarized into just few words in hokkien,
Wa Por Thor Car.......
Literal translation would be:
My stomach grinding.
This is human, we like to intensify our expression with long-winded description, while you can just bring it down to four words or maybe less, in your mother tongue.
'Happy Chao-angmoing, you indoctrinated bunch', the line that I find really funny when I was discriminated against by 'my own kind', so to say. They have their point, but people like me that already, not quite yet, find balance between the lingua franca and my language derives the most benefits.
At least, I have a set of "secret codes" within my own family.

Random
Hulala, I'm very high tonight. Just finished my five hours movie rally, "The Fountain" and "The Schindler's List".
I do recommend everyone to watch the latter one, which is relatively touching for me. Well, if it is touching for me meaning it is touching for everyone! Tears are part that you should not not-shedding in this movie, with the saddening violin background, it creates a gloomy atmosphere and induce immense grief for the innocent killed during the war.
Let's take it farther, I questioned myself, should a person who committed crime against humanity be killed? But I'm not in the mood of such philosophical angle as I always do. Should pacifism placed above fascism? Well, I just couldn't help to stop these questions popping on my mind. And why should a person help another person? I could answer this in a very simple manner, because of sympathy, it is human nature to bring joy and happiness to others to gain a sense of satisfaction.
I'm slacking today, and my test is yet to come in 4days time. I'm slacking still.
Anyway, I would like to grab this opportunity to congratulate 2011 SPM candidates on their marvelous results. But do remember, in order to go far in your life, what really matter is a compassionate and kind heart.
RMC having 4 straight A+ students, while Chung Ling High School scored an at least 50% of 8A's students. World goes crazy man!
Well, i have a best friend grumbling about her SPM results, although she got straight a's. =.=
while my childhood friend is satisfied with his zero a slip.
siao liao.

Blogging
As I've decided to explore yet another new world, not many of my friends know that I'm keeping a blog. Only Li Ren knows it, I guess.

The Blind Side
I was watching this movie, Sandra Bullock's Blind Side.
I stopped, and decided to make my blog a blog, to express personal feelings to the public. (err, attention seeker betul, but siapa nak baca your blog?)
I used to keep a diary, but you know, life is hectic as a college student, not even a second should be wasted. (btw, today, i spent 2hours on ipad's games)
Sometimes, i feel that i'm a jerk. Utterly repulsive jerk. Seriously. What to do? Tell me what should i do.
perhaps, everyone has their blind sides, good ones, bad ones.
Being a jerk is my sole bad blind side, but it is the worst one.
I was studying sarcasm yesterday, only I realize my definition of sarcasm is totally opposite with the universally accepted one. I always thought that being sarcastic could bring happiness to others, since for me, I could get over some negative remarks easily. Yet, there is only one Pee Li on earth, it means that only one guy on earth is that insensitive.
The negative effects on teasing and sarcasm reads:
Teasing and sarcasm can be funny, but if they are taken too far or occur too often they can have a number of negative effects. This is because they both prey on peoples' weaknesses, highlighting them for a cheap laugh or just to be mean. This can make people develop insecure attitudes and also make it hard to trust peoples' intentions.
Read more: The Negative Effects of Teasing & Sarcasm | eHow.com http://www.ehow.com/info_8571842_negative-effects-teasing-sarcasm.html#ixzz1mNj2pu4u
On one hand, I made friends around me feel insecure, which I concur to the facts on the web when I put myself on my friends' shoes. On the other hand, I bring happiness to many. As when you spread happiness, you couldn't escape from it too. Yes, I am happy, as always.
But I wasn't. 14 February 2012, I wasn't. It made my day worst when that foreign student who do not value the friendship but certificate spamming my phone. Finally, I learnt to ignore others.
I am who I am. I make no good student; I make no good son; I make no good friend; I make no good junior; I make no good senior; I make no good bf. But my intention is always good. But if this issue is delved deliberately with arguments and facts from all side analysed meticulously, one can come the conclusion that I not a bad one. I fail no paper in studies; I kill no parent; I hurt no friend with bad intention; I cause no expulsion of my senior; I beat no junior; and well, I tarnish no girl's reputation and dignity.
I just want to start again with a clean sheet. But, could I?
I call this clown syndrome.
While bringing others happiness, no one makes you happy. Because everyone is seeking happiness and few offer happiness.
- Those who bring sunshine into the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves.
- James M. Barrie
Scottish dramatist & novelist (1860 - 1937)
After all J.M. Barrie got this wrong. As it doesn't adhere to Physics law, where light travels in a straight line. Well, if you consider the duality of light, the light waves still moving away from the source. So how in the universe can those who emit be shinned upon? On the surface, that object is lustrous, but internally? It is a mystery unless you unveil it.
Anyway, I find this song awesome!

On Malaysian education: poverty and margnalization

Some vital statistics on educational spending in Malaysia vis-a viz marginalization, poverty, and education. Equality for schools? Look at how much is spent on MARA Junior Science Colleges, the elitist Malay schools? How might this relate to the process of social reproduction? Are we creating classes of people with different access and hence a class of the political economic haves and have nots? ......What paradigm of education necessitates the need to see schooling as separate and unequal? How do we reverse this trend of unequal distribution of resources and make intelligence and the nurturing of it be the right of each child, especially those who are disadvantaged economically, regardless of race? Please share this.

One man down!
While reading this, I couldn't help but laugh. I found similarity between this Kim Jong Il regime, Malaysian politics and Singapore's Family business. The only difference among them is how they fared in the past two decades. Worst, bad and good respectively in term of economy and livelihood of their nation.
Kim Jong Ii used his iron fist to run his family business;
Pak Jib utilizes fear, blank cheques and empty promises to make it here
while Lee Ltd. fight for it intellectually by showing exemplary leadership skills.
One with fun election that get unanimous vote for Kim Jong Il to stay in office;
another one with beautiful slogans and excellent rhetoric, elections that allow the losing party to stay in power;
and the last one which doesn't allow opposition to prosper while delivers the outcomes as promised.
Kim Jong Il Dead at Age 69
Reclusive North Korean leader died Saturday of a heart attack
North Korea's official news agency reported Monday that Supreme Leader Kim Jong Il has died at the age of 69.

O' Penang

It has been ages since the last time I'd actually blogged. Life is but miserable, cruel and cold-blooded, but guess what, we could actually see it from a brighter perspective!
I joined my 3rd penang bridge run last weekend, with some non-local friends.
Event Results
17KM CheckPoint : 2:10:41.59
ChipTime : 2:47:50.74
GunTime : 2:47:57.49
Ranking : 1731/4509
I know by the ranking itself, it seems extremely unhealthy for a 18 year old, how unfit i am.. heeeeeheeee xD:)
After all, it is not about how fast you finish your run, but how and whether you complete the marathon or not. A fruitful run indeed. A run in which I made it a social hub to meet old friends, to make jokes and free 100plus sessions along the bridge with old buddies. What's more when Allianz group hired a team professional massagers which will make you feel like in heaven for 3minutes massage after exhausting 21km run. perrrhhh, TERRRrrrrbaiK!
Though I couldn't break my own record, 2hours and 18minutes in 2009, I enjoyed the scenery and had an unprecedentedly awesome stroll on the bridge. Back in 2009, I ran my heart out to get good timing, so I didn't actually feel Penang. Imagine the cool breeze playing your hair while you're entering Penang Bridge, with who-know-which-school 24-season drum members adding a mystic aura to the serene atmosphere pumping more adrenaline to assist you to run better, THIS IS PENANG, my heart told me, and I'm proud to be born and breed on this lovely island.
Wooohoo, and for Penangites, we'll feel home whenever Penang Hokkien is spoken, be it Chinese, Indian or Malay, which overwhelmed the Penang Bridge International Marathon- add an ALLIANZ for legal purposes.
Life after all is not blind competition, with Penang located way far from Singapore, we are free from the viral kiasuness, not so.
I've noticed few i-call-it mentality problems, which are proliferating within my contemporaries, including me for instance.
First, we tend not to believe what we believed in.
No further explanation is provided, interpret it yourself. But being liberal is a good thing, yet many are moving backwards. Poor them, not me!
Second, we no longer proud of what we've learned, i.e mother tongue, but trying so badly to cling on English, yeah, I know I know, English is important in this globalised world, but when you're back in your hometown, use lah something familiar, something everyone feels comfortable lah, amboiii. If not, what's the purpose spending years back then to pick up this language?
To mothers and fathers out there, if you speak lousy broken Manglish, try not corrupt your sons and daughters with it, speak whatever you feel comfortable with, as long as it is authentic and proper when grammar is concerned. Using more Manglish-lah, it will only counter-productive. Your kids might find hard to adapt to proper English in schools or further down in their life. Expect your kids to say: "Excuse me, can you please wash your hands before you have your meal?", while you use: "Go, go wash hand!" even before he knows how to walk. Allow your kids to learn an extra language, this will arm him better in the future. After all, Lim Goh Tong only know Hokkien and Malay, but see how's Genting today. It's not about which language, but attitude! And learning a new language without prior knowledge from a proper authentic speaker will ensure a higher mastery.
Third, attitude.
Auntie ar, is it very hard to say 'thank you' 'terima kasih' 'kam sia' or even a smile? Don't lah so kedekut, will a smile causes you more wrinkles and cost you more on botox? PUUUhh-les, our mother already taught us, 'say thank you' so many times and be friendly like 'say bye bye to uncle' when we were small.
Do offer help, even if someone doesn't demand, they might be embarrass, but what's wrong to just approach an old uncle and say "can I give you a hand?", do this to nullify the notion of Malaysians are no longer friendly.
Kiasu kiasi won't bring you any far brother!
As the youths nowadays just simply don't know what it is like to be poor. Thus taking everything for granted.
Imangine when your friends wailing they couldn't sleep because "no air con", "too hot".
Or complaining to you, the heater is down, the water is too cold for shower in the morning, thus they would rather not shower. EEEewwww.....
Or worse case, I'm not going to use public transports, taxi excluded, as immigrants use them, buses are dirty, time-consuming. So, these people only got three means to commute, flight(air-asia, i'm telling you, if you seriously want to brag how rich you are, why not MAS?), taxi, and their parents' car.
How civilised of you!
Anyway, I'm glad I could bring friends around Penang, although only few which stayed in my house got the chance to really feel what life as a Penangite is with RM2.80 hokkien mee, laksa, penang road cendol and also, jackpot, lottery and 4-D. Those who chose to stay in hotel, go ahead, Penang economy needs your kindness so that our tourism could prosper even more.
Mr. Lim Guan Eng, Penang Road food prices have gone up too high for a local like me, I prefer RM2.80 char koay teow compared to a RM6.oo one.

Beyond Rangoon
A country of the people, by the people, and for the people. 'Beyond Rangoon', directed by John Boorman, is based on a real-life event, the Democracy Movement of Burma (now Myanmar) by its people, against the Junta system. Every soul with senses will be touched by the spirit of the Burmese in this 140 minutes long movie.
Awe-inspiring, touching yet containing numerous violence scenes, this movie describes a widow, Dr. Laura Bowman (acted by Patricia Arquette), who had just lost her family to robbers seeking for peace in the west. Her heart has nowhere to go but her dead husband and son.
Yet, the political unrest makes her trapped in the country as she lost her passport. Confronting with the brutal repression by the Junta, she flees into the jungle for her life, but nothing else more. Moment between life and death, there is where the inspiration comes from in this movie.
Professor Aung Ko, her tourist guide before the massacre happens, is the figure of justice in the whole movie.
"Seems like all they(the birds) know is the cage", he says as his opening dialogue with Dr. Laura when she freed a bird she bought for good deed but ended with the bird flew back into the cage. He is implying the need of Burmese to free themselves from the cage, with courage and knowledge, rather than follow the rule set by the Junta blindly.
Upholding Aung San Syu Ki's democracy principle, this folk fight for liberty, with non-violence movement, willing to sacrifice his life for his people. But there is no match comparing to Aung San Suu Kyi courage to stand in front the guns, serenely.
Aung San Syu Ki, the daughter of the late General Aung San, a western-educated scholar, a democracy figure to all Burmese, a Noble Peace Prize winner, is nothing more than the hope of all Burmese.
I was much intrigued of what Myanmar now is, as my colleague back in a small Dim Sum restaurant in Penang were mostly Burmese. I asked them why they left their country, but due to literacy problem, they just kept on repeating 'Aung San Su Ki' and 'ho liao' (in hokkien, means incredible'). They failed to give me a good perception as Immigration Commission always comes unpredictably, hunting those illegal immigrants down, and send them back to their respective country not until I watched this movie.
Thank god Malaysian government treats them friendly and nice, provides them with ample food, shelter and free transportation back to their hometown. Again, not until just now, I would never know why after being sent back, they keep on smuggle back here.
Malaysia is a heaven for them! Is a place where human dignity is valued. A place where every human being is respected. Lest forget about the fair or unfairness of the government, but our people, the Malaysians undoubtedly are so nice and friendly people, like me!
Ever imagine if you are in such circumstances where leaders rule with fear, by inflicting pain on you to gain respect and obedience? You can hop on a flight to Tripoli if you really want to experience it!
You need not to do so if you're a Malaysian, since as long as Malaysians are still Malaysians, this will never happen. Lets say, what if, what if it really happens? Just remember this phrase by Mr. David Chen (for Penangites, familiar right? David Chen Garden huh??), "Community and nation above all, and step forward in unity. If anyone could embrace this vision, how possibly could an enemy be successful in weakening us?" For the sake of this phrase, a communist bullet penetrated his chest on his way to Chung Ling High School as a Principal half century back then. Rest in peace my hero.
Inspiring movie for a young spirit is highly recommended. That's is why I'm watching movie instead of studying for tomorrow's test. And also writing this post so that you too, could know about this movie, and share the same sentiment after watching 'Beyond Rangoon'.
Hope that differentiation tomorrow will be easy *fingers tightly-crossed
P/S: but nothing comes easy in life, not even sex. DAMN!

A Penang Perspective
Recently, I am reading a book 'A Penang Perspective' written by Mr. Khor Cheng Kee half century ago. He is the legend in Malaysia journalism. He is the pioneer. He highlighted the Penangites lifestyle with a very unique approach. As I still find most of the values, that he jotted down, still relevant, perhaps I may say, very accurate to describe we Penangites. Time to get your ass off from Facebook and catch up some readings in State Library, thou!
Here's his masterpiece:
She has been here a few times, admires the island's beauty and agrees the hawkers' food is tops. Yet she feels Penang and Penangites must have "some imperfections to speak of."
Of course we have. But before we consider what they are like, let's give miss Non-Penangite her say:
"I should like to make it clear from the start," she writes, "that I am a 'Penang Perspective' fan and I think your Saturday column is super.'
"But I see (and you can't deny this, can you, honestly?) that you are a susceptible Penangite. I mean to say, you fall with a bang for Penang's charm."
"And you think, don't you, Mr.Khor, that there are no nicer people in the world than your Penangites."
"Come, Sir, face up to it. Admit that Penang and Penangites aren't all that wonderful. I bet they have some faults and failings, like the best of us."
"How about telling us there shortcomings, for a change?"
"To be frank, I like Penang and I think it's quite marvellous. I have nothing against it or its people. Only we KL people would like to see also the other side of the picture."
"Why not give your 'Penang Perspective' wider perspective? Why not tell us also what's wrong with your Penang?"
Why not? I am an unrepentant Penangite but, I hope, not a blind one. So, Miss Non-Penangite, let's see the other side of the picture...
To begin with, you can't be anonymous in Penang. You cannot lead a personal life here. Everybody knows everybody else. Everybody talks about everything.
Penangites are undoubtedly friendly. But they are also curious people. They are interested in you. They know who you are, what you do, with whom you do it, where you go, with whom you go where.
As some one once told me; you are too exposed in Penang. There is no privacy. You cannot be nameless. You cannot be lost in a crowd.
And the gossiping that goes on- in the street, at the market, in offices and club, at the hair-dresser's, in your backyard.
No wonder time stands still whole Penangites chit-chat. No wonder life moves slowly in the Island. So does the traffic.
If there is anything that is disorganised in Penang, it is the traffic. Cars crawl in front of you. You keep sounding your horn, but they don't give way.
When they do, sure enough, it's and old codger at the wheel, looking every bit as ancient as his bone-shaker. As you pass him he gives you a look of pained surprise, which says clearly you have no business overtaking him.
And if this isn't enough, you have taxis, buses, motorcycles, trishaws, bicycles, hawkers' tricycles, even the few bullock carts left in Penang, merrily weaving in and our of your path- a veritable hazard to all road users, except themselves.
If you tell a Kuala Lumpurean or a Singaporean you dare no drive in their city because their traffic is so heavy and confusing, they will tell you it's worse in Penang.
To be sure, KL and Singapore have a lot more vehicles than Penang. But their drivers have a lot more road sense. They are quick and quick-witted. Avoiding accidents in Penang, onthe other hand, is largely a matter of luck and guess work (you have to guess where all the cyclists and pedestrians are going, and trust to luck).
Coming to Penang itself, the Penang that the overseas tourist and the outstation visitor coome to see, a non-Penangite says one can see all there is to see in Penang- in one day.
Indeed, he reckons a few hours should be enough to cover everything in Penang. The beaches, the hill, the Gardens, the temples, the Kongsi houses, the factories, the shops.
Ah, yes, the shios. What can they offer you in Penang Road, Campbell Street or Bishop Street that KL and Singapore haven't got? There, the emporiums, the big complexes, the supermarkets, sell anything and everything under one roof. You can spend a whole day going round them, section by section.
In Penang there is little choice, even less variety in shops, and practically no competitiveness.
The sights, too, won't take up much time. You drive round the Island, you laze on the beach. You go up Penang Hill. You climb up Penang Hill. You climb the steps of Ayer Itam pagoda. You see the fish at the Aquarium, and the snakes at Sungei Kluang. What else is there, asks the non-Penangite?
Not much more- if you don't know your Penang. The lovely, serene side of Penang, that, like a certain mint, is too good to enjoy in a hurry. It has to be savoured slowly.
All in all, despite her failings and imperfections, Penang is still doing find. I will Stick to her. There may be two sides to the picture. I like them both.
Does this answer your question, Miss Non-Penangite?
Old, shabby Penang Hill cable car is now a display on the hilltop and it was replaced with a new one when I was a kid.
Penang is changing in a changing world, at a rapid pace, to keep us competitive in this globalized world.
Looking Penang from another angle, Penangites never change. Still as busybody as we were, talkative and annoying as usual. Bump into an old pal in a shopping mall and we will have endless stories for the rest of the day in a 24-hours Old Town. An authentic Penangite will then take an excuse to the washroom and secretly buy the bill before another does. That's the spirit that dies hard.
We, the kedekuts, will try to cut our expenditure to minimum. However, we will not hesitate when it comes to good food as long as we feel the price is reasonable.
Every business might go bankrupt in Penang except delicious food. We don't mind go all the way to Pulau Tikus for a lok lok session or Balik Pulau for Nyonya Char Kuey Teow, Masjid Kapitan for Nasi Kandar, or coconut shake plus mee sotong at Esplanade. Every alley we conquer, leave no corner unturned, just for food.
We are Tam Chiak (greedy for food), we want Ho Chiak (nice food). We value food as part of our life more than rat race and paper chase.
Don't misinterpret me, Penangites are not lazy. Contrary to that, Penang is the state of Malaysia with the most human talent availability!
Who is the fifth PM of Malaysia? Penangite!
Who is the charismatic opposition party of Malaysia? Penangite! (Anwar Ibrahim)
Who is the Health Minister of Singapore? Penangite!
Who is the ex-Health Minister of Malaysia? Penangite!
Who is the first Malaysian to be a Mayor in UK? Penangite!
Who is the no.1 badminton player in the world? Penangite! (Dato Lee Chong Wei)
Who is the no.1 squash player in the world? Penangite! (Nicol David)
Who is the no.1 shoe designer in the world? Penangite! (Jimmy Choo)
Who is the legendary actor that you will never bored watching his film repeatedly? Penangite! (Tan Sri P.Ramlee)
Who is the no.1 lawyer who can convince you that black is white? Penangite! (Karpal Singh)
and more.....
Oh ya, last but not least, who is the owner of this blog?
Undoubtedly, a Penangite-very-proud-to-be!

I was giving out water, hell yes, mineral water, to the public in conjunction with Love Our Kidney Week. Although many bastards refused to accept what I had offered, with a big smile on my face, yet it is another fruitful day in my life. Having dinner with my relatives all the way from US makes me feel better after being rejected by so many bastards who simply refuse to drink water. I say bastards, but only to those who already obese, barely able to walk and thinking the 500ml of water might put on more weight (FAT).
Hey bastards, water is essential for the break down of lipid a.k.a fat ok? I was trying to help you. I was trying to keep you away from high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, etc.
Spending time doing this kind of voluntary job rather than staring at the laptop simply makes me feel that my life is fulfilled. Only the life lived for others is the life worthwhile, quoted by Albert Einstein.
Out of the blue, a dude asked me, are you Pee Li Choo from RMC?
That's weird, I was trying to keep a low profile after all.
Today, both sides of my biceps are aching, perhaps I was too dedicated last night for my voluntary job, or maybe simply because Erika is too heavy?
Let's pray for a better tomorrow.

Life is what you make of it
Reading my own blog from the very beginning of it, I couldn't resist myself from being emotional. Controversial ones, those I composed during the good old days, saddening ones, and insane ones, those posts indicate how naive I was, how childish I was, how stupid I was, and how irrational I was.
For this reason, I've made the decision, get rid of all the past.
As I was going through my previous posts, I recalled the day as a Chung Ling High School student, making my way to RMC until the day SPM result was announced, from there, I began my amazing, full of surprises life.
Yesterday whilst having a group study with two friends, somehow the cute, hyperactive one mentioned the 117 tragedy. I was rather astonished, even a Sarawakian could got word about you guys! Dude, your spirit will never die. Although we ended up that group study with an unexpected event, leaving me and Albert in laughter, but I shall remember it. Rest in peace my friends.
Besides, 'robbing' books in library like no one else business everyday is the best part of my college life, as my college allows us to borrow 10books in one sort. Gosh, this will leave me with sleepless nights, trying to finish'em all. To the management, why building my hostel so far from college? The books are heavy you know.
In class with shorts and T-shirt reminds me of those days in RMC, sneaking into classroom wearing those. A part of I might get caught red-handed by Staff Meor, it was nice. At least I enjoyed myself back then, with this kind of rebellious acts. No offense, my beloved military officers, you've done a great job in nurturing us, inculcating values that a man supposed to arm with, to fight and win the war of globalisation.
Here's my resolution for a new start:
*note, all of them are equally important
Abstain from greed.
Be happy.
Remain single, as I did for the past 18years.
*safeguard, I'm not gay either, here's several factors:
I'm still young, don't want to be attached yet.
This stuff needs high maintenance which is beyond my capability.
Not being a slave of kiasu-ness. (very tough one!)
Make sure I get everything done, whatever I need to do.
Last but not least, maintain my fitness level.
